Attendance

It is our policy to celebrate achievement. Full attendance is a critical factor in ensuring positive educational outcomes for our pupils.  Our school will promote and encourage 100% attendance for all our pupils. Our attendance target is set in line with the national target.

We will give a high priority to emphasising to parents/carers and pupils the importance of regular and punctual attendance. We recognise that parents/carers have a vital role to play and there is a need to establish strong home – school links and communication systems that can be utilised whenever there is concern about attendance.

If there are problems which affect a pupil’s attendance we will investigate, identify and strive in partnership with parents/carers, pupils and our Education Welfare Officer to resolve problems as quickly and efficiently as possible. We will adopt a clearly focused approach aimed at returning the pupil to full attendance at all times.

Please see below for NHS guidance and when you should keep your child off school:

Absences

Please telephone the school on 01934 512200, before 9.30am, on the morning of your child's absence. Please leave a message on the school answer machine stating your child's name, class and the reason for your child's absence. Parents/carers of all absent children will be contacted if the school has not received a message by this time.  Please remember to cancel your child's school dinner via Select as any paid for dinners will still be charged.

Appointments

If your child has an appointment during the school day Parents are requested to ensure that they are signed out via the main school office. No child should leave the school premises during the school day without going through the formal signing out procedure in the main office.

Lateness

Parents are expected to ensure that children are present at registration.  Registers will close at 8.50am for KS2 and 9.00am for KS1; children arriving after this time will be recorded as late, which is an unauthorised absence.

If your child is going to be late to school please contact the school office by 9:30am.  After this time we will cancel any pre-booked dinners to ensure that neither yourself or the school will be charged.  If you arrive after this time and have not told the office you are still coming you must bring a packed lunch.

Severe Weather

Very occasionally severe weather conditions may make it necessary to close the school without time being available to give parents written notice.  In such circumstances an announcement of closure will be made via our online communication service, which is setup to automatically send to all 1st priority contacts - for these reason it is important to keep the school up to date with your latest mobile contact details.
