Starting Arrangements

At Worle Village Primary School we aim to ensure our new arrivals settle happily and quickly into school life. At first your child will attend on a part-time basis. We appreciate this may initially be awkward for you to organise but we strongly believe that this gives all children the best way of gradually adapting to this new setting and its new routines and has proven very successful at ensuring a smooth transition into school.

Please see the timetable below for all children:

* Full-time attendance is dependent on both the Head of School and class teacher’s assessment of a child’s happy and successful settling into school and their ability to cope with full-time education.

On arrival at the school with your child, line up in the playground. Please use the dedicated reception class entrance gate on Hill Road for pick-ups.

Free School Meals

There are two free school meal options:

Universal Infant Free School Meals – this is for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, you do not need to apply for this.

Free School Meals – is an additional entitlement for those on qualifying benefits such as income support and universal credit. Parents/carers will need to use their North Somerset Council Citizen’s Portal to make an application using the website below:

North Somerset Council - Citizens Portal

Please do not make an application before the summer holidays as your application will be cancelled by North Somerset.

Aspens

School meals are provided by our catering company Aspens and we use an online ordering system to place school meals. Parents/carers are responsible for ordering their child’s school meals. Children are encouraged to have a school meal using their universal free school meal or free school meal entitlements but can also have a packed lunch from home if preferred. The ordering system allows parents/carers to see the menu and order each day according to the menu or instead send their child with a packed lunch. Aspens are due to change to a new booking platform in the next month, so login details will be provided once your child starts school.

Communication

We use a number of platforms to communicate with parents/carers in the fastest and most efficient way, on top of other daily forms of communication:

SchoolPing

This is an online platform, with a dedicated app, which we use to send messages, letters and forms and for the booking of parents evenings. The best way to use SchoolPing is to download the app. Login details will be provided once your child starts school.

School Gateway

This is an online platform, with a dedicated app, which we use to take payments and bookings for school trips, events and clubs such as Breakfast and Wraparound Care. The best way to use School Gateway is to download the app. Login details will be provided once your child starts school.

Facebook

The school has its own dedicated Facebook page for sharing news, updates and notices. You can follow us @Worle Village Primary School.

Wraparound Care

We are proud to offer a full wraparound care provision with a paid Breakfast Club from 7.45am, free Breakfast Club option from 8.10am (as part of the DfE's Breakfast Club Pilot Scheme) and After School Club until 5.30pm. Bookings are self-managed by parents/carers using our School Gateway app. We also accept a range of childcare vouchers including the Governments Childcare Choices scheme as payment. Please contact the school for more information about this process.

Your child will be able to access wraparound care once they have started school full-time and with agreement from the class Teacher and Head of School.
