Religious Education

At Worle Village Primary School, Religious Education plays a key role in developing pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding. It promotes respect, open-mindedness and reflection, supporting children to develop a strong sense of identity and belonging.

RE is taught through an enquiry-based approach, enabling pupils to explore and appreciate the beliefs, values and cultural practices of principal religions and world views within local, national and global contexts. Teaching is underpinned by the six ‘Big Ideas’ identified by B. Wintersgill, ensuring a consistent approach across the school: Continuity, Change and Diversity; Words and Beyond; A Good Life; Making Sense of Life’s Experiences; Influence and Power; and The Big Picture.
