The school day starts at 8.40am.
Let the school office know if your child is not attending and the reason for absence.
The school day ends at 15.15.
Please bring a coat daily as we will go out for physical activity every day - what ever the weather.
Reading is so important
Reading is a key skill as it affects all areas of day to day life. As a school we promote a love of reading and encourage children to read a wide range of different genres.
When children can read fluently with good understanding they self-select books from our well stocked library.
Parents/Carers can help at home by listening to your child read or sharing their book.
The expectation is that your child reads at home a minimum of five times per week in KS2 (Year 3, 4, 5 and 6). This should be recorded in their reading record.
Term 1 & 2 - Ancient Egyptian
Other texts we recommend reading with your Year 6 child are...
In addition, children can access Reading Eggs, an online reading program, at home or in school. Please see your class teacher for login details.
We always encourage children to learn to spell correctly. They will be taught the spelling 'rules' and how to apply this knowledge in their work.
To support them and let them have some fun while learning we use an online program called Spelling Shed. This can be accessed at home, using the link below. Please see your class teacher for login details.
Also below is a printable sheet showing the key words for their key stage.
We have at least two PE lessons per week. Please ensure your child's kit is in school at all times to enable us to be flexible. We do PE in all types of weather so please ensure your child has suitable PE kit. In the Summer months we recommend shorts and t-shirt and in the winter long trousers with t-shirt and hoodie. Trainers should be worn.
All kit should be clearly labelled with your child's name.
An example of our kit, which can be purchased from NK Sports, is below or your child needs a plain white t-shirt and black shorts.
We are also skipping for two minutes per day, as part of Skip to be Fit and complete the Daily Mile.
